Creating Coverage Maps

If you have a business that has a geographic area you serve, you might want to consider putting a coverage map on your website. A coverage map is a map that shows an area in which you work, such as a service area or delivery area. The video below shows how to create the coverage map and how to embed it on a WordPress site. It also shows how to delete it when you no longer need it.You will need to log in to your Google account (such as a gmail account or whatever account you use to access Google services) and then you will go to Google Maps to get started. If you have any questions or need help with anything you see in the video, feel free to leave a comment below or submit a ticket to my support desk.NOTE: If you find it hard to see the details in the video, click the HD icon so it turns blue, in the lower right corner of the video player, to see it in Hi-Definition. Please share if you found this...

Membership Site Software Options

Recently there have been numerous membership site software options available. I have tested a few of them, most recently FreshMember, SmartMember, and Easy Member Pro.In the past, I have primarily used MemberSonic, and I really like it, but I have been getting away from WordPress options for memberships. There is nothing wrong with using WordPress for membership sites. It works quite well, in fact, but I felt like exploring other options, mostly just to see what was out there. In today's post, we will look at two different options for creating membership sites: FreshMember, which is a paid hosted solution, and s2Member, which is a free WordPress plugin.I like SmartMember a lot, too, but it is currently not available, as they are running beta testing in preparation for a public release. When it goes live again, I'll be happy to do a walkthrough of it if you'd like to see it (just let me know).I'll also gladly do a walkthrough of SonicMember if anyone wants to see that one as well, as it is a great paid option for WordPress. Again, just request it and I'll put one together. FreshMemberAs to the two I am covering today, let's start with FreshMember. This is a paid option, but they host everything, including any video or download files. Their servers are fast and the membership sites load quickly. I have a full video walkthrough below, but first, here are some of the feature highlights that I like: Theme templates to customize the look and feel of the site (10 designs at the moment) Checkout templates for the purchase page (4 designs at...

One link to rule them all: Booklinker.net

Do you share book links?Whether you are an Amazon affiliate, a blogger, a book reviewer, or simply someone who likes to share links to books they love, there can be issues when sharing Amazon links. With the advent of social media, we now have friends and fellow readers all over the world. It is great that we can share things we love with people everywhere, but there is a potential downside, too. When sending an Amazon link to someone of a different country, they may be taken to a page that says that item is not available in their area. The reality may be that it is, but they can't get it from that link. If, for example, you send someone a link to an Amazon.com page, which is the US version of Amazon, but the viewer is in England, they may not actually get to a page they can order from. From an online group I belong to (thanks Dennis Becker!) I found an easy solution to overcoming that problem: Booklinker.net.With Booklinker, you can now create one link to a book, that when clicked will automatically detect the location of the visitor and send them to the appropriate page on the Amazon site appropriate to their geographic region. It is a free service, and there is a similar service, GeoRiot (free for the first 1,000 clicks per month) that does the same thing for apps, music, and products. If you are an Amazon affiliate, there is even a way you can attach your affiliate tag to the link. You can go straight to the Booklinker.net site or you can check out my video walkthrough...

It’s been a short while since I’ve posted.I’ve been very busy getting some new product lines in the works. more on that in the days to come. Today, I have a product walk through for you. It’s a WordPress training that has almost 50 videos and walks step by step through the set up a a WordPress website. The training is modular. Back Up Your Facebook Account

More and more, we do things online or through the cloud. Even if we are not working online, most of us engage with others online, and we store many important things there, such as photos, videos, even conversations. One such place is Facebook. Most of us have a Facebook account and use it regularly. The downside to doing things online and in the cloud is that what is stored there may be at risk of loss. Accounts can get hacked, servers can go down, things can get accidentally deleted, and sometimes, as they say, “life happens.” It is important that we back up our digital information on a regular basis. Many of us back our computers up, and a few of us back our websites or blogs up. For my WordPress sites, I use WP Twin. It is amazing and works very well as a WordPress back up solution for blogs and websites. However, we forget about other online spaces, such as Facebook. In fact, I have discovered that a large number of people do not even know Facebook has a built-in back up solution available. It is called “Facebook Archive.” It saves our photos, videos, posts, messages and more. This is an important feature for everyone, but especially for people who use Facebook to communicate with clients and customers. Increasingly, I see professionals, such as Realtors, using Facebook for business communications with their clients. Wouldn’t it be great to have a permanent record of those conversations? Even if the record was used only as a memory refresher it would be helpful, but it could also be useful to...

Stop losing your prospect’s attention

Geico just came out with some fantastic Youtube commercials that are designed to grab attention immediately. They are putting these on Youtube as preroll ads, which are notorious for being skipped as soon as possible. They identified the problem most Youtube advertisers face, which is that after 5 seconds, the viewer can skip the ad. This happens almost always. It is not because the ad is bad, but because they didn't change the ad based on the marketing medium. They are taking their TV ads and putting them on Youtube. The viewer behavior is completely different on Youtube than on television, and if you want to keep the viewer from skipping the ad, you need to change the message so that there is a strong hook within the first 5 seconds. You can read a more in-depth article on this from AdWeek by clicking here. It opens in a new window. I have embedded the four Geico ads below if you want to see them. They are a great reminder to us marketers to be sure we are grabbing our prospect's attention immediately.Regardless of the format for an ad or sales pitch, we only have a certain amount of time within which the prospect will either keep reading (or watching). Otherwise, they will move on to something else.It is also a good reminder that we might need to change our message or approach based on the media in which that message is being delivered.Enjoy the ads and remember to leave your comments below!I hope this post was informative, as well as fun! Please share your thoughts below. If you enjoyed this post, please...

Have you helped someone today?

My day was made much more pleasant today with a private message and $5. I know $5 is really nothing much to write about, but to me, it means more than the last affiliate contest I won - much more. Some background: I am a member of a few forums. In one of them particularly, we all really try to help the other members, especially if they are struggling with some aspect of their business. There is a newer member in there who is a truly nice guy, and he’s trying very hard to make some forward progress. He has a relatively good idea for a product line he wants to work on, but his niche was too broad. We had been working on getting him to figure out how to find a more focused niche within that broader niche. He was getting it, but it was slow, and I could tell at times he was getting frustrated with himself. Let’s face it, you can only convey so much information through forum posts. I had previously created an information product that teaches how to find profitable niches, and part of that is how to find laser focused sub-niches, as well as identify the hot buyers within those sub-niches. I sent this guy a free copy of the product via private message. He said he got it and appreciated it, but it’s been a couple weeks and I hadn’t heard anything back from him. I figured maybe it wasn’t what he was looking for. In fact, by this time, I had forgotten all about it. Then, today, $5 shows up...
