Keeping Info Updated

I wasn't going to do a blog post today.

If you are keeping up with my daily progress, you know I am in the middle of a 30 day blogging challenge. Today, instead of a blog post, I was to update my About Me page.

To be quite honest, I thought today would be a "gravy" day. I published rendition of my blog a few months ago and was sure everything was up-to-date and looked good.

I didn't think there would be anything I needed to do for today's assignment, except maybe add a picture to the page.

Ha! You know what they say about the best laid plans, right?!

Here's the issue: When I set this blog up, I cut and pasted the "About Me" info from my old blog.

I hate to admit it, but the info was outdated even then. I must have been rushing just to get the site up.

I am grateful to the blogging challenge for make me look at that page. It is now updated and is not only more current, but is (hopefully) a better reading experience.

I decided to write a post today also, because I am sure most of us are guilty of not having updated info on our sites.

How many pages do you have on the net that could use an update? Today is as good a day as any to take a look and, if needed, do something about it.

I hope this post motivates you to check your sites and keep your information up-to-date.

I'd love to hear any stories you have of similar experiences. Feel free to comment below.

  1. I’ve just created my blog and therefore just created my about me page… it is a really hard page to write or get right.. think mine still needs some work.

    • I agree, Eliza. They are not easy to create. I think it’s tough getting the tone right, among other things. I took a look at yours and it looks like a great start! Take this with a grain of salt, but I’d add a little more there about your experience. It sounds like you have a lot of it!

  2. Right you are, Ed. I updated my About page several times and still I feel it should be again renewed. Thanks for the reminder.

    • I think I need to set a calendar for it. Maybe once every quarter, remember to check to see if updates to the page are appropriate.
